Henderson Edges Closer to Al Ettifaq

All Change in Liverpool’s Midfield

Jurgen Klopp is in the midst of creating a brand new midfield this summer, with a raft of players coming and going, as the German coach looks to revitalise his squad after a disappointing campaign last time out.

The arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have already got the wheels turning on a new-look midfield at Anfield, whilst Romeo Lavia has been heavily linked with a move from Southampton.

With the likes of Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having already left the club, and with Fabinho on the cusp of his own move to Saudi Arabia, it now seems increasingly likely that Henderson will also ply his trade in the Gulf State.

What Did Romano Say About Henderson Deal?

Romano has said that Liverpool’s captain has agreed to a three-year deal with Al Ettifaq, who are currently managed by club legend Steven Gerrard, with some reports suggesting the deal could triple his 200k-a-week wages.

The Saudi side want the England international on a free transfer, but the Reds are reportedly unwilling to let him leave for nothing. The deal now ‘depends’ on what decision Liverpool make regarding a transfer fee – with Klopp having already approved Henderson’s departure.

In any case, Romano statesn it will be a ‘crucial week’ for the Anfield club, in terms of players leaving, and with Henderson still having two years remaining on his current deal, his current home will be in no rush to part ways with the midfielder. Al Ettifaq will therefore need to make a ‘decision’ on how to continue regarding a fee for the midfielder if they are to land their man.
