Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra was spotted leaving Thorp Arch today and informed fans of the fact he was “not leaving” the club, according to those that were present. In an interview with Last Word on Football, one of the hosts of The Square Ball named the winger the Whites’ “best player”.
Leeds United’s Luis Sinisterra ‘Not Leaving’
Why is Keeping Luis Sinisterra Important
Leeds keeping Luis Sinisterra is a fundamental part of the club having a successful season under Daniel Farke. The Colombian is a major presence, dribbling off the wing and scoring plenty of goals, in addition to being one of the side’s finest creators.
Not only does retaining the player mean that the side has stronger performances throughout the season, but the fans will have far more confidence in the ownership. After battling to retain Wilfried Gnonto, losing another highly-valued winger on deadline day would be a major blow for any custodians of a club, nevermind brand-new investors.
What This Means for Facundo Buonanotte’s Move
Retaining Luis Sinisterra means that the Whites are slightly less likely to make a move for Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte. Last Word on Football exclusively revealed that the club have reached out for the Argentinian wonderkid in the event that they were to lose a major player in the final hours of the window.
If Daniel Farke’s side retain the likes of Luis Sinisterra, there isn’t a significant gap in the squad that needs to be filled. Any move for an attacker becomes significantly less likely, although in the dying embers of the transfer window, you can never say never. With a move for a left-back also looking highly unlikely, Elland Road may be somewhat quiet throughout the rest of the day.
