Manchester United Looking To Offload Duo Despite Transfer Window Closing

Old Trafford - Manchester United - Donny van de Beek set to Leave

Rob Dawson of ESPN has reported that two players from Manchester United’s current squad could still leave the club. The transfer window closed on September 1 in England, however, there are two countries where the transfer market is open for an extended period of time which means the teams in the leagues of those countries can still make new signings. United are looking to take advantage of this to offload two out of favour players.

United Looking to Offload Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly

According to reports, the duo of Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek and  Ivorian defender Eric Bailly could still walk out of the Old Trafford exit door. The Red Devils are looking for a solution to make it happen as both players are currently not in the plans of Erik ten Hag.

The Manchester outfit would want to get them off the wage bill as they are unlikely to become a key part of their squad this season. Both players have not been included in the squad for any of their four Premier League games so far this season. This is a clear indication of things to come and where they stand in the pecking order for the former Ajax boss.

Collapsed Deals and Broken Negotiations

Van de Beek was heavily rumoured to leave the club throughout the summer window. Real Sociedad appeared to be in the pole position to land the player for most of the window, however, the move did not materialise as United rejected the La Liga club’s final bid in the last few days of the transfer period.

There was interest from other clubs as well including Ligue 1’s Lorient and Serie A outfit, Genoa FC. Despite the clubs’ willingness the Netherlands international never negotiated a transfer with either side.

Eric Bailly on the other hand, has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with the Turkish side, Besiktas. The deal has been given the thumbs up by Fabrizio Romano who notes that a deal has already been agreed. In the initial days of the transfer window, Saudi Pro League side, Al-Nassr were also interested in the Ivory Coast international. Both these clubs can possibly rekindle their interest in the centre-back as the transfer window for their leagues is still open.
