Is Gallagher Really Demanding Expensive Salary To Stay At Chelsea?
Fabrizio Romano has delved into the claims that Gallagher is asking too much from the club and that is the reason why his new deal is being held up. Instead, the reason behind his contract extension situation dragging on is that the club are still deciding what they want to do with him in the future. Moreover, Romano adds that they are keeping the Financial Fair Play situation in mind while trying to think of Gallagher’s contract. With that being said, the journalist insists that it would be wrong to assume that the 23-year-old is asking for “too high” a salary to pen a new long-term deal.
How Has Gallagher Performed For Chelsea This Season?
The Blues are under quite a bit of pressure from their fans to extend Gallagher’s contract because of how important he has been for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season. The 24-year-old can play anywhere in midfield and has mostly excelled in the attacking midfield position this season. He’s scored four goals and provided seven assists across all competitions, putting in impressive performances against the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the Premier League.
