Ajax striker Brian Brobbey has become the latest player to enter the transfer shortlist of EPL giants Arsenal.

Arsenal Eyeing Prolific Forward Brian Brobbey Among Other Options

The Gunners Need a Lethal Striker

Arsenal have managed to score 91 goals in the Premier League this season, their highest in EPL history. But Mikel Arteta doesn’t seem to be satisfied. He is searching for the right man to be deployed upfront, someone who can plunder goals week in and week out.

Current forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have scored only 17 league goals between them. Havertz did show great improvement in the second half of the season but at the same time, he is also guilty of missing some glorious chances.

To win the title they might need a striker who can score more than 25 goals every season. A striker who can compete with Erling Haaland is the need of the hour. That is the level of talent required if Arteta’s men are to wrestle the title from Manchester City.

Arsenal Looking at Brian Brobbey

Brobbey’s exploits in front of goal this campaign haven’t gone unnoticed. As per reports from The Independent, the Dutch striker is Arsenal’s second option behind Newcastle forward Alexander Isak.

Brobbey has 18 goals and eight assists in the Eredivisie in the latest campaign. This stat is even more impressive considering how Ajax underperformed on their expectations. At Arsenal, he will be surrounded by better players like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.

It is believed Arsenal will make a move for the striker only if they are not able to land Isak. Since Newcastle are hoping to build their team around their attacker, a deal for him might be impossible.

The Dutch player is valued at around £21 million by Transfermarkt. This is well within the range of Arsenal’s financial reach. But Ajax will demand more than that given how prolific he has been for them.

Playing in the Champions League and the new commercial deals that Arsenal signed have propelled them to a strong financial position. So, Arsenal might be willing to pay more for Brobbey provided it doesn’t affect their other transfer dealings.

Apart from Brobbey and Isak the Gunners are also watching the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

Gyokeres has had a very productive season for Sporting Lisbon and has helped them win the league in Portugal. He has bagged 29 goals and 10 assists in the competition. Sesko is another young striker who has become the subject of interest for many clubs across Europe.
