There are few things less exciting during the NHL off-season than the NHL Awards show. The debates will rage regardless of viewership. In an attempt to spice things up, the NHL announced the Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft selections will be revealed June 21, during the 2017 NHL Award Show, in Las Vegas.

Hockey fans will get a closer glimpse at who will be up for selection when the NHL releases each teams list of protected players, however that wont be until shortly before the Award show. All 30 existing teams must submit their list of protected players by 5 p.m. EDT June 17. Vegas must submit its selections by 5 p.m. June 20, with the announcement of those picks made June 21.

The anticipation around the Expansion Draft has been building for months and that excitement will continue to grow as we get closer to Draft Day. By combining the draft with the NHL Awards, Golden Knights fans will get to experience a monumental day in our team’s history while enjoying one of the premier NHL events that features the game’s biggest stars.”
The wait isn’t quite as long for those interested in who was nominated for the NHL’s individual awards. The nominees one award will be released each day starting on April 19, and ending on May 2.

The event will be televised in the United States on NBCSN, and in Canada on Sportsnet. It will commence at 7:30 ET/4:30 PT. The event, in it’s eighth year, typically features performances and guest appearances from celebrities. None have been announced at this date, but the NHL plans to do so in the coming weeks. They’re encouraging fans to tweet about the event using #NHLAwards.
