The Los Angeles kings have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent forward Mike Cammalleri. Cammalleri was bought out by the Devils on the final day of the NHL’s first buyout period. His new contract will earn him $1 million.

Mike Cammalleri Signs With the Los Angeles Kings
Cammalleri will go on to play other year, tacking onto a 15-year NHL career. Cammalleri has split his tenure among the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils.
Drafted (2nd round, 49th overall) in 2001 by the Los Angeles Kings, Cammalleri chose to forego his senior year at the University of Michigan to join the Kings. After several successful years with the Kings, in 2008 he was part of a three-way trade with the Anaheim Ducks, Kings and Calgary Flames.
After joining the Flames, Cammalleri had a career best 82 points, including 39 goals and 43 assists. Due to cap restrictions, Cammalleri joined the Montreal Canadiens in 2009. He stayed with the Canadiens through 2012 before rejoining the Flames.
Cammalleri played an integral role in the Canadiens’ 2010 Stanley Cup run. He led them to the conference final for the first time since 1993. Cammalleri also tied a franchise record for post-season series goals at seven against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The record is held by a litter of Canadiens such as Maurice Richards, Guy Lafleur, Marcel Bonin and more.
After joining the New Jersey Devils as a free agent in 2014 Cammalleri earned 27 goals, a team high. Number 13 also earned his sixth career hat trick in 2016 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Cammalleri finished last season with 31 points, including 10 goals and 21 assists. Though it was his lowest since point total since 2003-04, Cammalleri’s veteran experience remains useful to his new club. In 840 career NHL games, Cammalleri has scored 287 goals and 326 assists for 613 career points.
