Brad Richardson Placed on Injured Reserve
The Arizona Coyotes announced that centre and penalty killer Brad Richardson is sidelined indefinitely with an upper-body injury he sustained back on October 26th.

Brad Richardson Injured
So far this season, Richardson hasn’t scored yet and has one assist for one point to go along with four minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 43.3 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -12.3.
Over his 15-year NHL career, Brad Richardson has played for the Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Arizona Coyotes. He has 100 goals and 132 assists for 232 career points in 758 career games. He was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the fifth round, 163rd overall in the 2003 NHL draft.
What This Means for the Future
The Coyotes are missing their premier penalty killer in Richardson. He and Michael Grabner have teamed up to be an elite penalty killing tandem and have scored 10 shorthanded goals over the past two seasons.
Richardson’s ability to be a key defensive player has always been his forte. Last season though he excelled in scoring 19 goals in 66 games. He scored four goals in one game earlier this year. It was against his old team the Canucks when he tallied at least one goal in each period.
While he will be missed his replacement being called up from the AHL Tucson Roadrunners, Michael Chaput could have an opportunity to show the Coyotes what he can do in the NHL. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound native of Montreal, QC has tallied six goals, 16 assists, and 76 PIM in 167 career NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, and Montreal Canadiens. He came over to the Coyotes from Montreal for forward Jordan Weal.
Chaput has scored five goals, one assist in nine games in the AHL.
