The Colorado Avalanche has traded Forward Tyson Jost to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Nico Sturm. This comes only a day after acquiring Josh Manson from the Anaheim Ducks.

Colorado Avalanche Forward Tyson Jost Traded To Minnesota Wild
Jost has 14 points in 59 games so far this season and is a +1 +/- rating, and Sturm has 17 points in 53 games with a -5 +/- rating.
Jost is currently making $2 million until 2023, while Sturm is currently making $725,000 although it expires this offseason. with this, the Avalanche shave $1.275 million in cap space, and With Josh Manson having a large chunk of his salary cap retained by Anaheim, he only counts for a $2.05 million cap hit.
For the Minnesota Wild, they get a solid forward in Jost who can help support them on the bottom 6. Jost should be a good third or fourth-line centre, and this should be the bounce-back that Jost needs. Currently, the struggling Wild need all the offensive help they can get right now.
What This Means For Both Teams
For the Minnesota Wild, they get a solid depth forward looking for a fresh start, who can provide the forward depth that the Wild have been looking for. The Wild are currently aiming for either a wild card spot or hopefully a top playoff spot.

For the Avalanche, they shed some salary as they get closer to the deadline, and get a cheaper bottom 6 centre to hopefully fix the problem the Avalanche has with the bottom 6. This will also allow them to make more moves at the trade deadline, considering that they are one of the top contenders in the league. Some are wondering if the Avalanche will now go after the Philadelphia Flyers captain, Claude Giroux. Although Sturm will need to be signed next year, and the Avalanche has a lot of upcoming free agents.
