Bad news coming out of the state of Texas. After taking a vicious hit, Joe Pavelski will be out for Game Two. The play took place in Game One against the Minnesota Wild. His presence is key for the team as he is a key part to their top line.
According to Stars head coach Pete DeBoer, Joe Pavelski is in the NHL's concussion protocol. He came to the arena today, but is obviously not playing tonight.
DeBoer said Pavelski is "getting better every day.”

Joe Pavelski To Miss Time
After taking a vicious hit by Matt Dumba, Joe Pavelski will miss time. In addition, Pavelski left the game and did not return. Minnesota went on to win Game One in double overtime. Dumba did not have a hearing for the hit and will not receive any discipline. It will make for an eventful and chippy Game Two. Both teams were fierce rivals entering the series, and the blood is boiling after this incident.
Pavelski Impact
This is a big blow to the Dallas Stars. They are a deep team, but he is a huge part of their success. Pavelski is 1/3 of the elite top line that the Stars have. In fact, Pavelski had a big year for the Stars scoring 28 goals and 77 points. Even as he has gotten older, like a fine wine that’s gotten better with age. His front net presence is crucial and his playoff experience as well.
Joe Pavelski will be missed and he did also have a point in the first game. With him out of the lineup, the Stars will lean heavier on other guys. Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson will pave the way for the club. In addition, veterans like Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin will be counted on as well. The Stars have plenty of depth and players to count on, but losing a key veteran like Pavelski is not easy. You never want to see anyone get hurt like this. The hockey world hopes for a speedy recovery.
