NHL Rumours: Philadelphia Flyers May Trade Forward

Travis Konecny trade

We’ve got some more NHL rumours as we close in on the end of the 2022-23 season. The Philadelphia Flyers have already started making changes. New general manager Daniel Briere already shipped off defenceman Ivan Provorov last week. However, Briere may not be done making moves and overhauling the roster. Philadelphia has some talented players that Briere could listen to offers on. This edition of NHL rumours looks at a possible Travis Konecny trade.

All NHL rumours come from the original source and are subject to change.

Flyers Listening on Travis Konecny Trade

Rumour: The Athletic’s Charlie O’Connor looked at the possibility of more Flyers deals on the site’s rumour roundup. O’Connor listed Carter Hart and Scott Laughton as possible pieces. However, this article will focus on a hypothetical Konecny deal. The London, Ontario native was one of the team’s bright spots with a 31 goals in 60 games.

The winger has two years left on his deal with a $5.5 million cap hit each season. Konecny is also only 26 years old and could be a good long-term solution for a team. O’Connor listed the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes as possible suitors for the winger. The former 24th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Draft equaled his season-high for points with 61 like he did in 2019-20.

Will Flyers Make Travis Konecny Trade?

It would be very hard for the Flyers to make this trade because the winger is one of their better players. However, Briere may feel that he can get something of value for the forward.

The Flyers are headed for massive changes and Konecny may not be the biggest name that’s going to be moved. Hart and Kevin Hayes have been rumoured to be getting trade offers that Briere will have to listen to. There may be plenty of fresh faces for John Tortorella to get familiar with this coming season.
