Logan Cooley Signs Contract
After being drafted third overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, it was a matter of time before the Coyotes put pen to paper. With Cooley signed, he joins an influx of youthful talent in Arizona. Cooley has spent the past year in college playing for the University of Minnesota. He has had a good year for himself with 18 goals, 32 assists, and 50 points. Cooley will still get the college experience playing at Mullet Arena.
Arizona Coyotes Overall Outlook
Despite Arizona not being a good hockey team right now, they are headed in the right direction. Clayton Keller has been one of the best point producers in the last month. The club still has Karel Vejmelka and Nick Schmaltz, but this is all about the youth movement. Not to mention, Arizona has stockpiled draft selections setting them up nicely for the upcoming drafts.
Arizona Coyotes Logan Cooley is coming into a good situation and will be a key piece down the middle of the ice. Along with him are youngsters Barret Hayton and Dylan Guenther. A huge surprise for a young gun is Matias MacCelli. He is enjoying a nice campaign for Arizona as he ranks third in points. Cooley will have players to play alongside with which will further his development.
Gary Bettman insists that hockey stays in the Desert. The arena situation may be wacky, but the Desert Dogs could be a team to watch for in the coming years. Cooley will get to show the hockey world why he was selected third overall and be a building block for years to come.
