With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.
NHL Predictions
New York Rangers vs Arizona Coyotes
Head-to-Head: Rangers 1-0 Coyotes
TV: MSG; Scripps; ESPN+
Our opening game of NHL predictions has the New York Rangers visiting the Arizona Coyotes. Igor Shesterkin is the expected starter, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Jonathan Quick might get a look in goal in this one, so keep an eye on Twitter aka X. The Blueshirts are 8-2 in the last 10 and have taken four games in a row. Artemi Panarin leads the team in goals (43) and assists (60) this season.
Arizona is projected to go with Karel Vejmelka in between the pipes for this game. The Coyotes stopped the Nashville Predators 18-game winning-streak last time out. Logan Cooley‘s hat trick powered Arizona to an 8-4 win over Nashville. The Coyotes are 6-4 in the last 10 and have taken two straight. Clayton Keller lead the team in goals with 31 while Matias Maccelli has 36 assists.
The Coyotes are playing well, but the Rangers are chasing down the top-seed in the East.
Prediction: Rangers win 4-2.
Boston Bruins vs Washington Capitals
Head-to-Head: Bruins 0-1 Capitals
TV: Monument Sports Network; NESN; ESPN+
Our featured game of NHL predictions has the Washington Capitals hosting the Boston Bruins. Jeremy Swayman is the expected starter for the B’s, who are 6-4 in the last 10 games. David Pastrnak leads the club in goals (45) and assists (56) this season. The Bruins are three points off the Rangers for the top spot in the league.
Washington is expected to go with Charlie Lindgren in between the pipes. The Capitals will be without Tom Wilson due to suspension and Ethan Bear has entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. Alex Ovechkin has taken the team lead in goals with 26 while John Carlson leads in assists with 38. Carlson will play in his 1,000th career game in this matchup.
The Caps are holding onto the last Wild Card spot, but missing players may tell the tale in this game.
Prediction: Bruins win 4-1.
San Jose Sharks vs St Louis Blues
Head-to-Head: Sharks 1-0 Blues
TV: Bally Sports Midwest; NBC Sports California; ESPN+
Our final game of NHL predictions has the San Jose Sharks taking on the St. Louis Blues. San Jose is likely to go with Mackenzie Blackwood in the blue paint for this game. The Sharks are having another rough patch in the season with nine straight losses. Fabian Zetterlund has tallied 20 goals and 15 assists for the Sharks. Thomas Bordeleau has scored four goals and added two assists over the last 10 games.
St. Louis is expected to counter with Jordan Binnington in goal for this game. The Blues are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and trying to catch the Los Angeles Kings for the final Wild Card spot in the West. St. Louis has a 31-4-1 record in games they score at least three goals in a game. Robert Thomas has netted 23 goals and 51 assists for the Blues. Jake Neighbours has scored six goals with three assists over the past 10 games.
The Blues need wins like this in order to catch the Kings for the last Stanley Cup Playoff spot. San Jose will give St. Louis an effort, but the hosts get the victory.
Prediction: Blues win 5-2.
Prop Bet of the Night
We’ll keep with the last game of the night for our prop bet of the evening. Pavel Buchnevich leads St. Louis in goals with 26. We like Buchnevich getting the over on +0.5 goals.
