NHL Predictions: April 5 w/ Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers

NHL Predictions

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers

Head-to-Head: Avalanche 1-0 Oilers

TV: Sportsnet West; Altitude; ESPN+

Our opening and featured game of NHL predictions has the Colorado Avalanche visiting the Edmonton Oilers. Alexandar Georgiev is the confirmed starter for the Avalanche, who are 7-2-1 in the last 10 games. Colorado has already clinched a Stanley Cup Playoff spot, but is three points off the first-place Dallas Stars in the Central Division. Cale Makar has a total of 19 goals and 63 assists for the Avalanche. Hart Trophy nominee Nathan MacKinnon has seven goals and 10 assists over the last 10 games.

Stuart Skinner is the projected starter in between the pipes for the Oilers. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Edmonton is 5-3-2 and dropped the last two games heading into this one. Both teams are in the top five in goals scored with Colorado first and Edmonton fifth. Connor McDavid has scored 29 goals with 97 assists for the Oilers this season. Evan Bouchard has notched a goal and 12 assists over the last 10 games.

Edmonton is only three points ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights for second in the Pacific Division. Colorado is just a little bit better at this time.

Prediction: Avalanche win 5-3.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Arizona Coyotes

Head-to-Head: Golden Knights 1-1 Coyotes

TV: Scripps (Vegas); Scripps (Arizona); Sportsnet

The Golden Knights head south to take on the Arizona Coyotes in this Pacific Division clash. Vegas is expected to run with Logan Thompson in net for this game. The Golden Knights are 7-2-1 in the last 10 games and have three straight victories. Jack Eichel has put in 26 goals and 33 assists for the Golden Knights. Ivan Barbashev has four goals and two assists over the past 10 games.

Arizona is likely to go with Karel Vejmelka in goal for this game. The Coyotes are 5-5 in the last 10 games, but have taken losses in the last two games. The Coyotes have committed 332 total penalties (4.4 per game) to rank third in the league. Nick Schmaltz has 21 goals and 35 assists for the Coyotes. Leading-scorer Clayton Keller has seven goals and seven assists over the last 10 games.

Vegas still has a shot to host a post-season series if it keeps getting points. A win here would help that cause.

Prediction: Golden Knights win 5-2.

Seattle Kraken vs Anaheim Ducks

Head-to-Head: Kraken 3-0 Ducks

TV: KCOP-TV, ROOT Sports Northwest; ESPN+

Our last game of NHL predictions has the Seattle Kraken hosting the Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson is the projected starter for Anaheim, which has a 2-7-1 mark in the last 10 games. However, the Ducks did earn a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames last time out. Troy Terry has 20 goals and 32 assists for the Ducks. Rookie Olen Zellweger has one goal and four assists over the last 10 games.

Philipp Grubauer is the probable starter for the Kraken, who have faded from the post-season race with a 3-6-1 record. The Kraken have given up 214 goals while scoring 196 for a -18 scoring differential.  Defenceman Vince Dunn has 11 goals and 35 assists for the Kraken. Matthew Beniers has four goals and two assists over the past 10 games.

Both teams are playing out the string, but Seattle gets the season sweep.

Prediction: Kraken win 4-2.

Prop Bet of the Night

We’ll go back to the second game of the night for our preferred prop of the night. We’ll take a multiple-point night from Eichel. Go with Eichel +1.0 or +1.5 tonight.
