Carrier has spent the last seven seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights selected Carrier from the Buffalo Sabres in the 2017 Expansion Draft. This made Carrier one of the original Golden Knights.
Carrier scored a career-high 16 goals in the 2022-23 season. The forward scored six points in the playoffs as the Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup.
Carrier is the second “original misfit” to leave the Golden Knights. Johnathan Marchessault, the Conn Smythe winner from the Stanley Cup run, signed a contract with the Nashville Predators.
Role With The Hurricanes
Carrier is a physical player who can play on the offensive and defensive sides of the ice. Part of what makes Carrier successful on both sides of the ice is his forechecking ability.
It is unknown at this time which line Carrier will play on or his line mates will be. However, it is clear that the Hurricanes are hoping Carrier can be a piece of the puzzle that results in a Stanley Cup Championship.
Carrier Contract Latest In Busy Off-Season
The Hurricanes have been one of the more active teams this off-season. The Hurricanes have given contract extensions to Jaccob Slavin and Jordan Martinhook. Shayne Gostisbehere signed a contract to bolster the Hurricanes blueline.
The Hurricanes attempted to re-sign Jake Guentzel. After failing to do so, Guentzel’s rights were traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Building A Contender
After falling short in the playoffs the last few seasons, the Hurricanes are looking to build a team that can take them all the way. It will be interesting see what other moves they may make to try and being the Stanley Cup back to Carolina.
