Still a few hours from puck drop, and things are already developing within the Vegas Golden Knights. Head coach Gerrard Gallant announced this morning that forward Tomas Tatar would shift back into the line-up ahead of game four. It is believed David Perron will be a healthy scratch for the fourth game in place of Tatar.
New Faces Wait Ahead For The Vegas Golden Knights
After being acquired from the Detroit Red Wings at the NHL trade deadline this year, Tatar hasn’t found his rhythm yet. Tatar, 27, has been scratched in 12 of Vegas 18 playoff games this year. Having paid so much for the winger, the Vegas Golden Knights haven’t seen enough from him. Although Tatar has been tangled up in struggles, there is still time left to redeem himself. With losing game three in Washington and now trailing 2-1, Tatar’s time to shine is now. If he wants to be apart of the solution, Tatar must have a strong showing tonight for staff and management.
Tatar scored in game two of the Western Conference finals versus the Winnipeg Jets. The last time the 27-year-old suited up was May 18th. Being the Vegas Golden Knights highest paid skater, Tatar has shoes to fill. He scored 20 goals this season, but only four with the Golden Knights. He also has a combined 14 assists for the Vegas Golden Knights and the Detroit Red Wings.
With a $5.3 million dollar cap hit through 2020-21, if Tatar does stay with the Vegas Golden Knights he’ll be expected to produce at a much higher and consistent rate than now. For now, Tatar should focus on bringing back his game to be a regular in the line-up. Alongside of trying his best to help his team come back in the series and win the Stanley Cup in their inaugural season.
