In a recent report, it has been revealed that American IndyCar driver, and former F1 racer, Alexander Rossi had been approached by his former team, Manor, to drive for them for the remainder of this year’s Formula 1 season, however, has since declined the offer.
Alexander Rossi Turns Down Manor Drive
Rossi, who currently races in the IndyCar Series for Andretti Autosport previously drove for Manor in 2015, replacing Roberto Merhi in the second half of the season, racing for the team at 5 Grand Prix. Although a Manor drive looked promising in 2016 for the young American, Rossi was replaced by Indonesia’s Rio Haryanto.
With the halfway point of the 2016 Formula 1 Season being marked by the German Grand Prix, it has been revealed that Haryanto has been struggling with finances, supposedly owing Manor some 7 million euros, thus explaining why Rossi has been approached in order to partner Pascal Wehrlein for the remainder of 2016.
Although Rossi has declined this offer, the American does have options for 2017, whether it be in Formula 1 or in IndyCar. Stay tuned to Sports Events Guide for the remainder of the Formula 1 season as driver lineup changes continue to unfold.
