Fernando Alonso’s Preview Of The German GP: McLaren Needs Saturday Pace

The Spaniard clearly identified the real problems in the McLaren MCL33: Qualifying. The two-time Formula 1 champion stated that the car must be ready to reach at least Q3 on Saturdays to compete and secure many points on Sundays.

The Spaniard added that he’s glad the German Grand Prix is back on the calendar, especially at Hockenheim.

“We know we need to work on our qualifying performances to give us more chances on Sundays. We have also seen that in racing we can tighten and secure points. The goal is to do the same in Germany.

“I like to race in Hockenheim, and I won there three times. It’s good to come back after the absence. The track is one of the classics, it’s fun, and there are a couple of overtaking spots. Plus an extra zone of DRS this year, we hope to be able to fight with the cars that are close to us.

“This track won’t be easy for McLaren. Also, there’s two races before the summer break in very different layouts. We must work hard to adapt our settings to each one and maximize our options.”
