F3 Testing: Colapinto and Barnard top Day 3 Post-season test

The third and final day of F3 testing has arrived as drivers push themselves in their last attempt to prove they’re ready for next season.

As we headed into the third and final day of F3 post-season testing, each driver spent the day maximizing their potential in the car; hoping to impress the respective teams for a 2023 seat.

Morning Session

The last morning session of the week was topped by current F3 driver Franco Colapinto. But it was hectic for most of the field with three red flag incidents. Hadrien David collided with the barrier at Turn 10, while Max Esterson and Roberto Fari beached their cars into the gravel at Turn 14 and 8 respectively.

Afternoon session

An impressive result from Charouz racing who managed their first top ten finish of the three-day testing session. Peruvian FREC driver Matias Zagazeta managed the team’s best time with a commendable 1.31.942, which placed him eighth on the leaderboard. It was smooth sailing for the last of the six total sessions with zero stoppages for incidents.

With post-season testing now finished, teams pivot to the evaluation stage. Which drivers should they sign for 2023? Many teams have opted to test four drivers over the three days. As teams drop drivers others will move in to pick them up. Others may need another season in the lower ranks before moving up to Formula 3.
