Rajah Caruth, a young driver from the ARCA Menard’s Series and NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program, announced on December 6th that he would be racing in the NASCAR Truck Series full-time in 2023.
Caruth will be driving for GMS Racing in their #24 Chevy Silverado and sponsorship will come from the Wendell Scott Foundation. Chad Walter will crew chief the #24 team.

Along with his full-time ride, Caruth is the newest member of Driver’s Edge Development, a joint effort between GMS and JR Motorsports. The program teaches young Chevrolet drivers marketing skills and other resources for their early careers. In addition to Driver’s Edge, Caruth will have the mentorship of Truck Series veteran Grant Enfinger and most importantly, new co-owner of Petty GMS racing, Jimmie Johnson. Caruth said Johnson was his favorite driver growing up and even dressed up as the seven-time champion for Halloween.
Caruth was full-time in the ARCA Menard’s Series in 2022, where he finished third in the championship points standings, with eight top fives and fourteen top ten finishes. In addition, he made Truck and Xfinity Series starts. He ran for Spire Motorsports in the #7 Silverado and for Martins Motorsports in the Xfinity Series in their #44 and #45 Camaro. In his debut in the Truck Series, finished 11th at Gateway, his career-best finish.
Rajah Caruth had an excellent introduction to both the Truck and Xfinity series in 2022. In 2023, I hope we see him take advantage of the mentorship of Jimmie Johnson and Grant Enfinger. These veteran drivers can give him the tools to contend for wins and top fives. The #24 Silverado was the runner-up truck in both 2020 and 2021 with Zane Smith. I believe Caruth has the potential and the tools to get this truck back to a championship contender.
