MP Motorsport has finally confirmed that Jehan Daruvala will race for them in 2023 alongside his 2022 PREMA teammate Dennis Hauger.

Jehan Daruvala has been confirmed as MP Motorsports’ second driver for the 2023 season. He’ll partner once again with Dennis Hauger whom he raced with for PREMA during the 2022 season. This will be Daruvala’s fourth season in the FIA Formula 2 Championship overall but the first with MP Motorsport. Daruvala is the 22nd and last driver to be announced for the upcoming campaign.

Daruvala’s 2022 Season

Daruvala made his Formula 2 debut with Carlin in 2020 after finishing third in the 2019 Formula 3 Championship. After spending two seasons with Carlin, Daruvala switched to reigning champions PREMA for a chance at the title. After finishing 12th and seventh in the previous seasons he was determined to move up the ranks and was partnered with 2021’s Formula 3 Champion Hauger. However, PREMA seemed to have dropped off the pace during the season with Daruvala finishing seventh in the standings, taking just one win (Monza) and eight podiums.

In September, Daruvala announced that he would be joining Mahindra Racing in Formula E as their test and reserve driver for 2023. In November, he and Hauger participated in the Formula 2 post-season test with current champions MP Motorsport. Then it was announced that Daruvala would be leaving the Red Bull Junior Team after spending three seasons with them.

Following the announcement, Daruvala stated:

“I’m really pleased to be back in FIA Formula 2, and to be able to team up with MP Motorsport makes it extra special. Last year, I was stunned by MP’s remarkably consistent front-running pace, and in 2023 I hope to be the beneficiary of that myself!”

Sander Dorsman (Team Principal of MP Motorsport) added:

“At MP, we are delighted to welcome Jehan to our FIA F2 team. He has been a consistent frontrunner right from his debut in the category, taking wins in every F2 season he has competed in. His experience will be of great value to the team, so we are very much aiming for a repeat of last year’s form. Also, matching him up with Dennis will allow us to build on a smooth cooperation between teammates who already know each other well. With such a strong driver pairing for 2023, I can’t wait to go racing!”
