AlphaTauri became the fifth team to reveal its 2023 car during the New York Fashion Week. Can a new look and driver lift the team?
Similar to their sister team Red Bull, AlphaTauri launched their 2023 car on Saturday night at the Lincoln Center in New York.
The Formula 1 market in the US
F1 continues to develop a wider audience in America with each season, so revealing the car in New York was a strategic move. Franz Tost (Team Principal at AlphaTauri) explained the importance of the car being revealed in New York:
“As we know, Formula 1 has seen a huge increase in popularity due to the likes of Netflix and social media over the last few years. So it’s extremely important that we continue to grow in this market, which is why I’m pleased we were able to launch our 2023 livery here today in New York City to show our appreciation to the US audience.“
The AT04 Livery
Their new title sponsor, Orlen, adds new colors to the design that surely can‘t be overlooked. Red stickers with the Orlen badge are placed on the rear wing, the halo, the mirrors, and on the wheel covers. But overall, the car shines in AlphaTauri’s primary colors of blue and white.

Ranking the AlphaTauri Livery
Fans weren’t too pleased with the design, especially the incorporation of the red stickers. AlphaTauri could have integrated Orlen in a different way than place the red logo across the car. It seems like the placements weren’t fully integrated during the design process and instead added after the fact. However, the red does make it stand out from last year’s liveries and remains a unique color scheme.

The 2023 F1 Season
This will be the first season with Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries racing side by side. 2023 will be Tsunoda’s third season in Formula 1 and de Vries’ first after spending the past few seasons driving in Formula E and as a test and reserve driver for Mercedes.
