Broderick Jones perfectly embodies the physical style of football that led the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championships. While he just began to start this past season, prior to that he did have around 500 impressive snaps under his belt. He caught the eye of most, however, when in the prior year’s National Championship game, he entered in the second quarter, going toe to toe with this year’s top pass rusher Will Anderson Jr. Holding his own against him left many intrigued with the tackle for this past year.
Starring as a two-sport athlete as well as a five-star recruit out of high school, Broderick Jones decided to leave basketball behind to pursue his football career. In his first season at Georgia, he only played a handful of snaps at right tackle. In his second season at Georgia, Jones found himself as a rotational player playing another handful of snaps at right tackle and close to 500 at left tackle. He was immediately impressed and earned himself the starting role for the next season. In his third and final season at Georgia, he was the blind side protector for Stetson Bennett, helping him to throw for over 4,000 yards as well as close to thirty touchdowns. His best attributes shined brighter in the run game.
Georgia utilized the group’s overall athleticism and strength by getting their offensive lineman into space allowing them to win the one-on-one matchups. Broderick Jones not only excelled at this, but he seemed to enjoy going the extra mile providing everyone with highlight reels worth of pancake blocks. At his size coming around the edge he is like a freight train, pulverizing anyone in his path. Through his time at Georgia, Jones made it clear that he can be a tone-setter at the next level.
Strengths
- Physically looks the part of what an ideal left tackle should look like, wingspan is exactly what teams are looking for;
- Georgia loved to put their lineman in space and let their athleticism win battles, an area at which he excelled;
- Ran a sub-five second 40-yard dash at the combine, speaks to his overall speed and agility for his size;
- Only surrendered two sacks in over 1,000 snaps during his time at Georgia;
- Brings the perfect mauler mentality to win every matchup.
Weaknesses
- Bad habit of bobbing his head down prior to initiating contact, this leads to him losing track of defenders at times;
- Can oversell to the outside in pass protection, leaving the inside vulnerable with counter moves;
- Limited experience in the starting role;
- Hand placement and overall technique can be improved upon;
- Needs to be more coordinated with his movement through contact, at times can be too upright or clunky.

Although he has over 1,000 snaps under his belt, Jones still has room to grow into his role as an elite left tackle in the NFL but the tape is more than encouraging. Teams are getting an intelligent player in Jones as he never was called for a hold or false start in his time at Georgia. His mentality and physicality make him a sure-fire starter from day one.
