Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, Agree to Aaron Rodgers Trade
After two straight MVP seasons, Aaron Rodgers showed some signs of slowing down after the team traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. Working with an underwhelming supporting cast, the quarterback finished the season by completing 64.6% of his passes for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. The Packers finished with an 8-9 record and missed the playoffs by one game. Following the season, Rodgers took some time to decide whether or not to come back for the 2023 season.
Aaron Rodgers originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Selected by the Green Bay Packers, the California product began his career on the bench backing up Brett Favre. While he rarely saw the field early, Rodgers eventually earned the starting job after the organization traded Favre to the New York Jets prior to the 2008 season. During his first year under center, Rodgers completed 63.6% of his passes for 4,038 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
Rodgers won his first Super Bowl in the 2010 season. Starting and appearing in 15 games, the former first-round pick completed 65.7% of his passes for 3,922 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while going on one of the all-time great postseason runs in NFL history. The quarterback beat the Pittsburgh Steelers to win the fourth title in franchise history. The following season, Rodgers put together arguably the best season of his career, guiding the team to a 15-1 record while completing 68.2% of his passes for 4,643 yards, 45 touchdowns, and six interceptions. In 2014, he had another MVP season, completing 65.6% of his passes for 4,381 yards, 38 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
Since signing his rookie contract, Aaron Rodgers has completed 65.3% of his passes for 59,055 yards, 475 touchdowns, and 105 interceptions.
