Keenan Allen’s fantasy football outlook for 2023 is quietly positive. The veteran receiver is entering his 11th year in the NFL as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers. Allen struggled with injuries early in the 2022 season but maintained his normal WR1 production. The Chargers made some key additions to their offense this off-season in Kellen Moore and Quentin Johnston. What impact will they have on Keenan Allen’s fantasy outlook in 2023?

The Chargers finished top five in the NFL in passing completions, attempts, and yards in 2022. Allen missed seven games due to injury but finished as WR12 in points per game with 16.4. When Allen was healthy in Weeks 11 to 18, he was WR3 in points per game and total fantasy points.

Keenan Allen Fantasy Football 2023 Preview
The Chargers are expected to be one of the most improved offenses in the NFL in 2023. In 2022, the Chargers were top 12 in points per game and top three in total pass attempts.
Los Angeles’ only offensive player addition was first-round rookie wide receiver Johnston. He is expected to jump in the 11-personnel lineup with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
During Allen’s healthy stretch in 2022, he had a 26% target share. The addition of Johnston should not change that. With better health luck in 2023, Allen should bounce back as a top 12 wide receiver.
The Chargers also added offensive coordinator Moore. Moore was the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys for the last four years. In those four years, the Cowboys finished sixth, 17th, first, and fourth in points per game. That includes 17 games without starting quarterback Dak Prescott. In that stretch with Moore the Cowboys are also top three in pace each year. The Chargers were already a good offense in 2022 but the addition of Moore will take them to the next level.
Previously, one of the issues with the Chargers offense has been the lack of big plays. Justin Herbert ranks 21st, second, and 23rd in air yards per pass attempt each year of his NFL career.
Prescott, who was coached by Moore has ranked fourth, third, 11th, and sixth with Moore as his offensive coordinator. The Chargers air yards and pace should improve in 2023. Allen has led the Chargers in targets per game every season with Herbert. The number one target-getter on Moore’s offenses has finished as WR5, WR19, WR15, and WR10.
Through two days of Chargers practice it is clear: Justin Herbert is throwing deep this season.

Keenan Allen Fantasy Football ADP 2023
Keenan Allen is currently going as WR19 (in the fourth round). He has usually gone in the second or third-round range. This is insane value for someone who has top-12 wide receiver potential. The upside is not great but the floor of solid targets is there as long as Allen stays healthy.
