Here are the three potential destinations for Chicago Bears star quarterback, Justin Fields. A blockbuster trade could be looming very soon in free agency next month, and there are plenty of potential suitors for Fields. The first team that has Fields on their mind was the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are looking for a quarterback this offseason. According to reports, the Steelers are expected to call the Bears for the former first-round pick.
ESPN Adam Schefter noted that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is a big fan of Fields and they could look at options to bring him in. Fields’ trade value could be expensive for front offices to go about their inquiries. There were reports that the Bears would give up a third-round or second-round pick, but it’s expected to be a first-rounder.
If Pittsburgh doesn’t want to spend much and wants a mobile veteran quarterback, then they possibly will stick to inquiring about Ryan Tannehill. Kenny Pickett is expected to come back this upcoming season after releasing Mitchell Trubisky and Mason Rudolph is set to hit the free-agent market. However, Tomlin does want competition in the quarterback room, and bringing Fields in would be an intriguing thing that he may do.
If he arrives in Pittsburgh, he could potentially become the starter and that would leave Kenny Pickett as the backup. It might come down between the two in the quarterback competition, but they bring Tannehill on a one-year deal. Many teams in the league are still interested in Fields, though, so the Steelers aren’t the only ones.

Three Potential Destinations for Chicago Bears Star Quarterback Justin Fields
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers may have released Trubisky, but that doesn’t mean that Pickett’s job is necessarily safe. The expectation was for him to be the starter after Trubisky’s release and Rudolph hitting the market. However, Fields coming into the quarterback room would shake things up drastically in Pittsburgh. The Bears will continue exploring the Fields trade though to see which deal they could benefit from.
Some reports say that Chicago could keep Fields and draft USC’s Caleb Williams with the No.1 pick. This seems like an unlikely scenario since they wouldn’t want two young unproven quarterbacks on the same roster. Fields was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and he has plenty of years ahead of him. He ended his third season with 2,562 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games.
It’ll be up to Tomlin if he wants to go young again or overall stick with acquiring Tannehill. Pickett still has two years left in his rookie contract, but that seems like a long shot. The Steelers having Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris along with Fields sounds like a sweet deal that could happen. Those two running backs could be bound for a breakout next season.
Atlanta Falcons
Since all signs are pointing that the Bears are dealing Fields to draft Williams, the Falcons are another potential destination. The Bears expect to have an active market and Atlanta could be at their doorstep. The Georgia native Fields could be the right fit for the Falcons to pick up a quarterback in the draft. Atlanta has the No. 8 pick in the draft and by the time they get their pick, they may believe a top quarterback won’t be available.
The Falcons could jump the gun and offer two first-round picks in 2024 and 2025 for Fields if they want. This will be up to them if they want to take the gamble with Fields as their next franchise quarterback. They could release Taylor Heinicke or Desmond Riddler and that would brew up the trade rumors.
New England Patriots
The Patriots are in dire need of a new potential franchise to take over the offense. It has been lackluster in the quarterback room, and one of those reasons is the team going 4-13. Neither Mac Jones nor Bailey Zappe has played effectively to prove they could be the starter, but Fields could make that change.
With Bill Belichick gone, a new era may be forming in New England. The Patriots have the No. 3 pick in the draft, but they could draft that pick away with the Bears to get Fields. There are still some prospects other than Williams that would be available if they don’t trade for Fields.
