The Los Angeles Chargers will likely trade four-time Pro Bowler and outside linebacker, Joey Bosa ahead of free agency on March 13. This isn’t the only defensive standout they’re looking to trade, but also Khalil Mack. According to The Athletic, the team is open to trade offers for many veteran players like them. This also includes wide receiver standouts such as Mike Williams and Keenan Allen.
However, Mack and Bosa make up the team’s largest two cap hits at $38.52 million and $36.61 million. The Chargers are trying to clean up their salary cap as they are in one of the worst financial situations in the league. They are currently sitting at over $20.5 million in their salary cap and they have just two days to clear it out. Los Angeles may also have to release their starting Safety Derwin James to drench out their debt.
It seems like the Chargers have too many liabilities on their team and they will look to focus on the draft to rebuild. This isn’t the much-anticipated start that Jim Harbaugh was expecting, but the future could remain bright. The only implication is what they will do if they release four key starters, this seems unusual so it’s a dark time for Chargers fans. Franchise Quarterback Justin Herbert will probably lose two of his top targets.
This would affect not only their offense but their defensive structure as well as they plan on to move from two long-time veteran standouts. Bosa started his career as one of the most electric pass rushers, but his production has been slowing down due to injuries. He could still fetch a high price in trade talks.
NEWS: The #49ers are showing strong interest in #Chargers DE Joey Bosa, per @sfchronicle.
Joey & Nick Bosa have always wanted to play together in the #NFL.

Los Angeles Chargers Likely to Trade Four-Time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa
Is a Reunion in San Francisco on the Horizon?
According to many sources, there is a good chance that the Bosa brothers could be in the same uniform. A year ago, Nick Bosa said his brother potentially joining him in San Francisco could break the NFL. This trade idea wouldn’t be too dreamy since the Chargers are doing everything in their power to clear out their cap. The 49ers would need to give up some draft capital to make this trade happen, but how far are they willing to go?
Pairing with Joey Bosa’s recent injury may make his trade value dip low, which could work out for both sides. Many talking heads shouldn’t be surprised if the Chargers give up Bosa for cheap or at a questionable package. It would work out perfectly for the 49ers in this situation as they’re looking for an opposite Edge Rusher. The Chargers are unlikely to trade Mack and Bosa in the same package but would ship them to different teams.
The 49ers had their fair share of disappointments and successes with past Edge Rushers, but none of them have earned a permanent starting role. They have tried guys like Randy Gregory and Chase Young, but none of them were consistent in the long haul. This trade is bound to blow the league away after another disappointing loss in the last Super Bowl. Keep an eye on the 49ers who may make it happen and may have offensive lines crumbling.
Expectations for the 49ers This Free agency
After failing to reach a restructured deal with Defensive Tackle Arik Armstead, they’re bound to make a splash in the market. The team asked him to take a pay cut, but he instead was requesting for his release. With that, the pieces of the puzzle could be coming together for a big-time trade in California. The NFL Free Agency will open this week and be on the lookout if this trade comes to light.
