By now, most folks are familiar with the top names in the 2024 NFL draft, and their fit for dynasty fantasy football. Instead of beating a dead horse, let’s look at some sleepers outside the top 25 in ADP, and a case for why they should be a target for our dynasty fantasy football teams.
Three Dynasty Fantasy Football Sleepers in the 2024 NFL Draft
Jermaine Burton, Wide Receiver Alabama
A couple of things are startlingly important to wide receivers and their projected role in the NFL. Burton checks almost every single one regarding on-the-field playstyle and production. He’s physical at all parts of the play, and deals with aggressive defenders with ease. Burton has an early breakout (if we count his freshman year at Georgia as a breakout, he, Ladd McConkey, and Adonai Mitchell all cannibalized each other), four years of solid production, and was Georgia or Alabama’s top two target three out of four years in college.
The case for his success is easy. This is a guy who checks the box for most eye tests and analytics models. The case against him is unfortunately also an easy one. There were instances of him pushing fans, making coach’s lives difficult, and he’s been to six schools in eight years. If he lands in a spot that can mold him, he could be a homerun. Or he could fizzle out quickly.
Best Team Fits: Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills
Ben Sinnott, TE Kansas State
Alright, everyone is head over heels for Brock Bowers (who literally does backflips). But Sinnott has an ADP in the fourth round, is a freak athlete in his own right, and is a good enough blocker to earn snaps early in an offense. Kansas State used him more like Kyle Juszczyk than a traditional tight end, and that should get dynasty managers excited. He can be a chess piece for a coach to use, whether as a big slot, a wing back like it’s 1953 or in line.
The case for Sinnott is fairly straight forward. We want big, fast, strong tight ends who earn touches in their offense. If Sinnott ends up in Carolina or with Justin Herbert in L.A. he has a strong argument for being a top two option in his offense. The case against is the same as with every tight end. They normally take some time to develop in the NFL. Sam LaPorta and Kyle Pitts broke the mold with their rookie seasons, but Sinnott could frustrate managers if he doesn’t produce early.
Best Team Fits: Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints
Cody Schrader, RB Missouri
Come for the dynasty sleepers, stay for the super late 2024 dynasty sleepers. Cody Schrader was an All-American, but due to his age and lack of flashy runs he’s being forgotten in this draft cycle. There are tons of older prospects in 2024 due to the COVID year. For nothing else, the story of going from walk on to All-American is a fun one. Schrader’s best case scenario is as a handcuff in a weak backfield, but at his price that’s a win. Schrader is currently going outside the top 48 in rookie drafts. If he goes somewhere without a clear RB2 or a weak RB1, he’ll be a priority add for all dynasty managers.
Best Team Fits: Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders
