The Washington Commanders are named a fit for NFL record-holder free agent Michael Thomas this offseason. According to a source, the Commanders have a chance to pair Jayden Daniels with one of the best available wideouts in the market. Many reports indicate that Thomas can be a reliable veteran to lean on if he keeps his health in check. However, free agency hasn’t been treating the veteran well this offseason so it’s a matter of time before he finds a new NFL home.
It’s reasonable to assume that he could be with a team soon considering he leads with most receptions in a single-season. However, he isn’t the same prolific receiver he was so this may prevent some teams from contacting him. Thomas has only been playing in just 13 games the past three seasons so it’s safe to assume his career is dying down. Health is a concern for many rosters so this is why he isn’t garnering much interest.
A source claims that Thomas would offer the Commanders something different when he’s healthy. He’s a bigger target than Jahan Dotson and Terry McLaurin so he would fit in the offense fairly well. Incoming receiver, Luke McCaffrey may be a mismatch but bringing in Thomas could give Daniels a complete wideout package. Thomas could probably be a good slot receiver to catch passes on the perimeter.
However, they will likely give Thomas a boost over Dotson to be the opposite of McLaurin to catch deep balls on the vertical route. Daniels is going to need another special receiver on the opposite side to give him the experience to see what he can do with his arm talent. Thomas acts as a quarterback-friendly receiver so he could make those clutch catches.

Other Potential Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys haven’t done anything to improve the supporting cast for Dak Prescott. This likely means this is the last season for Prescott if Dallas isn’t making any moves for him. Head coach Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat so it shouldn’t surprise if the Cowboys tank this season. However, they need a reliable receiver to help boost what Brandin Cooks is handling in the slot.
CeeDee Lamb still doesn’t have an extension and it’s becoming imminent that the Cowboys will trade him. He’s expecting to hold out past this year’s training camp which is bad news for Dallas. Thomas would become the new No. 1 receiver if they decide that Lamb isn’t worth the headache.
Kansas City Chiefs
Mecole Hardman is coming back to the roster but Marquez Valdes-Scantling is heading elsewhere. It’s going to be a different wideout corp for Patrick Mahomes so they may as well bring Thomas in for cheap. Xavier Worthy would need a reliable veteran to learn from and Thomas would probably provide that experience to reinforce this group. Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore only have a few years before the Chiefs decide to get younger at the position to build a new group around Worthy.
Rashee Rice isn’t starting the first few games due to off-field issues so they need someone willing to be a temporary starter. However, he’ll likely win the job and be on the same field as Rice and Worthy. It would give Kansas City another good run for a Super Bowl.
Baltimore Ravens
Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews have been one of the most consistent pass-catchers on the Ravens the past few seasons. However, Rashod Bateman hasn’t been doing anything special to help this group. He’s coming back on a contract extension but it’s to imagine that they only have two explosive weapons with Bateman still struggling. This would open the opportunity for Thomas to reignite his career to catch those contested balls on one opposite while Flowers is the speedster.
