week 2 quarterback rankings

The NFL season is in full swing, meaning it’s time to set your lineups for Week 2 of the fantasy football season. Below are the quarterback rankings, tiers, and analysis for Week 2.

Quarterback Rankings for Week 2 Fantasy Football

Tier 1: Superstar Quarterbacks

1. Josh Allen
2. Jalen Hurts
3. Lamar Jackson
4. Patrick Mahomes

Allen had a big performance in Week 1 finishing as the top QB in fantasy with 31.2 fantasy points. He leads the rankings again in Week 2 as the Bills travel to Miami to play the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. Allen hurt his left hand, but that will have no effect on him playing in Week 2. Allen is a sure-fire top-three fantasy quarterback every week.

Jackson rushed 16 times in the season opener and finished as the QB5 with 25.1 fantasy points. He gets a much more favorable matchup vs the Raiders in Week 2. Jackson’s rushing upside gives him a top-five ceiling every week in the quarterback rankings.

Tier 2: Solid QB1s

5. Anthony Richardson
6. Kyler Murray
7. C.J. Stroud
8. Dak Prescott

Richardson only completed nine passes in Week 1 but had 212 passing yards, 56 rushing yards, and three total touchdowns. He had one of the best passes of the week on a deep ball to Alec Pierce. Richardson had his inconsistencies throwing the ball, but he will put up big fantasy numbers if he continues to run the ball and chuck it deep.

Prescott got paid before his Week 1 game in Cleveland, but he struggled. He finished with 179 passing yards and just one passing touchdown. However, the Cowboys had a big lead early, and they didn’t need to throw a lot in the second half. The Cowboys host the Saints in Week 2, which is a much better matchup and game script for Prescott. Expect Prescott to be back in the top ten of the quarterback rankings in Week 2.

Tier 3: QB1 Upside

9. Jayden Daniels
10. Brock Purdy
11. Tua Tagovailoa
12. Matthew Stafford
13. Joe Burrow
14. Jared Goff

Daniels ran his way to a top-three fantasy finish in Week 1 having 88 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He only threw for 184 passing yards and had zero passing touchdowns, finishing as the QB3 with 28.2 fantasy points. He is going to run wild all year and gets a favorable matchup against the Giants who got picked apart by Sam Darnold in Week 2. Daniels can prove his passing worth this week and be a consistent top-ten fantasy quarterback.

Burrow and the Bengals struggled mightily in Week 1 losing to the Patriots. However, Burrow was without Tee Higgins, while Ja’Marr Chase played a slightly limited number of snaps. Higgins has a better chance of playing in Week 2, and Chase should see a full complement of snaps. Burrow and the Bengals visit Kansas City in Week 2. He plays well against the Chiefs and is 3-0 in the regular season against Mahomes. Burrow should be able to bounce back in Week 2.

Tier 4: Potential Streamers

15. Trevor Lawrence
16. Baker Mayfield
17. Caleb Williams
18. Geno Smith
19. Justin Herbert
20. Derek Carr

Williams struggled in his NFL debut, throwing for less than 100 passing yards. The Bears found a way to win without scoring an offensive touchdown, as the defense led them to victory. This was just rookie struggles for Williams. The Bears play a Colts defense that just gave up 29 points to the Texans. Williams will bounce back but is outside the top 15 quarterbacks until he can prove it.

Mayfield had an amazing day against the Commanders, throwing for four touchdowns. He was the QB2 on the day with 29.7 fantasy points. The Commanders have an awful secondary, and Mayfield took advantage of that. It will not be this easy for Mayfield and the Buccaneers to replicate this success every week. They play the Lions in what should be a high-scoring game. Week 1 was probably the best performance of the year for Mayfield, but he still has some value as a potential low-end QB1 in Week 2.
