The Cowboys or Chargers may steal Rams wide receiver, Demarcus Robinson from the Chiefs. According to a report, the wideout has been falling on the depth chart, so it may make sense to return to boost Kansas City. Wide receiver trade rumors have dominated the Chiefs the past week since losing Rashee Rice after Marquise Brown didn’t get one single start this year. Robinson is already on an expiring contract and the Rams aren’t using him anymore since Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp will return to full health soon.

Unlike other wideouts like Davante Adams, DeAndre Hopkins or Amari Cooper, Robinson knows the system behind Patrick Mahomes. It seems ideal for Kansas City to through the cheap route if other rosters aren’t looking to give their big-time wideouts to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, there haven’t been any reports of Robinson being a part of any trade but that could always change near the deadline. Head Coach Andy Reid did say he prefers trading for a player who knows the system which could lead to speculation on Robinson.

Numerous names on the potential trade block could be good names like Diontae Johnson or Christian Kirk, however, Robinson makes too much sense for the Chiefs. They probably won’t trade for a guy like Marquez Valdes-Scantling or Kadarius Toney since they’ve been facing inconsistency issues and injuries. Robinson seems the better fit for Reid’s philosophy if they want improvement in the receiving corps. However, the Chiefs probably won’t be afraid to be aggressive this time, especially if they go on a losing streak this month after the 4-0 start.

Kansas City would need to act fast since other rosters like the Cowboys and Chargers are looking to bolster their passing game.

Extra Boost for Los Angeles

It would be surprising not to see the Chargers add another wideout before the trade deadline. They have one of the most inconsistent receiving corps in the league like Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer. Jim Harbaugh was hoping to see at least some improvement from Johnston but that isn’t happening. Meanwhile, Palmer is playing like a journeyman while rookie Ladd McConkey looks like a younger version of Adam Thielen.

Perhaps, Robinson may not be the biggest name but it would give Justin Herbert another tool to work with. The Chargers must understand that Robinson isn’t getting a lot of touches with the Rams so he might excel in a new team this year if he’s traded. A scenery change might be what he needs to finally break this year, especially if he earns a role behind McConkey in the slot.

New Blueprint in Dallas

If any team needs a new receiver, it’s the Dallas Cowboys. Brandin Cooks is being put on IR dealing with an infection in his leg. The Cowboys will not become the biggest buyers but they just need someone who could make an immediate impact. Dallas will go cheap again this year so no one should expect anything special that’s what makes Robinson a perfect candidate in a cheap scenario. CeeDee Lamb isn’t the entire passing attack of this offense and Dak Prescott being one of the better elite quarterbacks needs weapons if they have playoff aspirations.

Mike McCarthy can’t say he’ll go with his practice squad guys since they have postseason experience. Jalen Tolbert nor Jalen Brooks aren’t ready for that type of competition so Robinson having that experience could help.

Other Potential Trade Destinations

New Orleans Saints

After releasing A.T. Perry, the Saints are looking for a new receiver behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. The Saints were looking like contenders the first two weeks but the offense is crumbling the last two. Derek Carr wants a reunion with Davante Adams but that probably won’t happen under their cap situation. Robinson is cheaper and a better receiver in their lineup if they’re just looking for a replacement for their WR3 spot.

Baltimore Ravens

Don’t expect the Ravens to be the biggest buyers this trade season since they have a solid collection of wideouts named Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor. There are a couple of inconsistency issues they need to clean up but Robinson’s presence should shore up the depth chart. Robinson isn’t the fastest or a superstar but he provides enough for a team that is close to looking like a team that’s ready for a ring.
