The Los Angeles Chargers currently have their sights set on the playoffs and continue to improve this team midseason. However, it is never too early to look into next season, especially with such an exciting draft class coming around.
A team built with a new regime that has different philosophies than Chargers fans are used to gives much excitement for the 2025 NFL draft season. This coupled with General Manager Joe Hortiz completely nailing his first draft as a GM, the Chargers may have their sights set on multiple playoff runs in the future.
Los Angeles Chargers Take Underrated Receiver in Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
At the current pick they are slated to select at, the Los Angeles Chargers are predicted to select a 2025 draftee at pick 21. With a late first-round selection, some of the top talents like Travis Hunter, Tetairoa McMillan and Ashton Jeanty are off the board.
This will lead the Chargers to select the now under-the-radar but soon-to-be draft crush, Elic Ayomanor, Wide Receiver, Stanford.
Just felt like posting a video of Travis Hunter’s father

“As the front runner for the Dads for Ladd campaign, it’s sacrilegious to recommend a WR here,” said Mike Kashuba, Sports Events Guide Managing Editor. “But Herbert needs a big-bodied receiver who can make contested catches and contribute on every down. Ayomanor isn’t a big name yet, but by April everyone will have him on their radars.”
The Impact of Elic Ayomanor On the Chargers 2025 Season
If the Chargers were to go in the direction of drafting Ayomanor in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, they would now have two first-round selections and a second-round selection spearheading their receiving corps.
Drafting a receiver in the top 40 three years in a row is usually a sign of a player not working out, and needing a replacement ASAP. This player would be shaping up to be Chargers 2023 first-round selection, Quentin Johnston.
Johnston has improved majorly in his second season, catching plenty of touchdowns, though most were on busted coverages. Johnston has shown evolution and can be a critical part of this Chargers offense. Thus Johnston is not in need of a direct replacement, but a main number-one receiver to allow Johnston to be the elite complement he has shown to be.
Furthermore, 2025 NFL Mock draftee Ayomanor will bring that “X” receive skillset that the Chargers have been looking for since the departure of Mike Williams. A perfect fit for this Chargers offense and superstar quarterback Justin Herbert.

The receiving room would shape up to be something along the lines of (not including possible free agents or the re-signing of impending free agents): Elic Ayomanor (2025 NFL Mock Draft selection), Quentin Johnston (2023 YAC Threat), Ladd McConkey (Route Running Slot Specialist), Brenden Rice (Size/Speed Threat) and the explosive return man, Derius Davis.
The Chargers would boast a receiving room that has a great blend of size, speed, quickness, route running and elite dynamism for the return game.
With the selection of Ayomanor, can this 2025 Chargers team go all the way? Is he the key to fully unlocking Herbert’s aggressiveness and allowing Herbert to finally throw those crazy Philip Rivers-esque 50/50 balls?
