Viewed as someone with high potential that has yet to reach it, Edmunds has spent his entire career thus far in Pittsburgh. He has always been a player that you can pencil in for a few forced turnovers on the season. Edmunds has been most efficient when playing closer to the line of scrimmage. He excels in playing against the run but struggles out in space in pass coverage. The closer you have Edmunds to the line of scrimmage, the better off your team will be. This has almost made him a liability in third-and-long situations.

During the course of his four-season career in Pittsburgh, Edmunds started in 60 of 64 games. During this span, he recorded 340 combined tackles, 235 solo tackles, and 12 tackles for loss. He also registered five interceptions for 61 yards and no defensive touchdowns. Jackson has also recorded 21 pass deflections, three sacks, and just one fumble recovery. Edmunds has yet to earn a Pro Bowl nomination.

Edmunds has never lived up to the billing of a first-round draft pick. He has not been terrible during his time in Pittsburgh, but never great either. Due to the physicality of the position, his projected NFL career is shorter than all other defensive backfield positions. It is imperative that Edmunds finds a way to be a better contributor in passing downs. Whether that be getting to the quarterback quicker or being more efficient in pass cover, something has to give. If Edmunds does not find a way to improve in these key areas, then he may be out of the league sooner rather than later.
