A Few Bright Spots in the Browns Second Preseason Game
Some Players Continue to Impress As Decisions Loom
The Cleveland Browns second preseason game did not go quite as planned as they suffered another loss at the hand of the Minnesota Vikings. The game ended 27-12 and was an ugly affair that left more concerns than praises.
With any preseason game some players made a name for themselves, while some may end up playing their way off the squad. The second preseason game out of three for the orange and brown left a lot to be desired.
In a game that could be seen as a letdown, it is always smart to look on the good side. Many Browns showcased their abilities whether it was a play, drive, or score. Here are a few players that made the game worth the watch for the Browns fans across the country.
Chris Williams Impressed in Second Preseason Game
Defensive tackle Chris Williams showed he wanted to be out there in the second preseason game last Saturday. Williams has spent two seasons with the Colts in 2021 and 2022 and is trying to showcase his abilities for an already stacked defensive line.
Williams had two sacks in the game and was one of the few defenders who balled out. The defensive line, as a whole, showed flashes this game. The Vikings were consistently asked to extend plays and had to work for what they got.
It is yet to be decided on Williams’ future with the team after not being on an active roster last season. However, if he finishes the preseason how he played this game, he gives himself a chance to sneak onto the team.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson
The inexperienced quarterback played in eight games for the Browns in 2023. He struggled with his throwing, completing just 53.6 percent of his passes. He had one touchdown and four interceptions through the air.
On the ground, he rushed 14 times for 65 yards a season ago. This preseason, he has shown better accuracy and led the Browns on an opening drive where he completed three out of four passes for 40 yards. The team was behind the chains on other drives in the second preseason game with the man they call DTR at the helm.

Even being behind, DTR completed 13 of 17 passes for 126 passing yards. He did throw an interception, but he showed great flashes, given the circumstances. A man expected to be competing for the third quarterback spot, Thompson-Robinson seems poised to be ready if needed.
D’Onta Foreman Back From Injury
The Browns added the veteran Foreman this offseason to help stabilize the running back room with recent injuries. Foreman suffered a scary injury of his own in preseason but rebounded extremely well.
Foreman ran the ball ten times for just 18 yards, but most were short-yardage situations as expected. He did find the endzone for the Browns only touchdown in their second preseason game, and was great in the passing game.

He led the team with five catches and was second on the team with 46 receiving yards. Foreman will be leaned upon during the regular season to be a change of pace for the Browns offense. If he can provide more of what he showed this game, it will only improve the offense as Nick Chubb recovers from injury.
