At last night’s SHINE 52, the tag team combination of Thunder Rosa and Holidead – collectively known as the Twisted Sisters – defeated Ivelisse and Mercedes Martinez to become the new SHINE Tag Team Champions in a Tag Team 4-Way that also included Keira Hogan & Double D’Rose and Ariel Monroe & Aja Perera. The former Vendetta Pro International Tag Team Champions have become one of the indie scene’s premier tag teams, facing men and women alike – in the past year they’ve scored impressive wins over the likes of Doom Patrol (Chris Dickinson & Jaka), Team PAWG (Lufisto & Jordynne Grace), Extra Talented (Aaron Solow & Ricky Starks), and The Killer Baes (Laura James & Heather Monroe), not to mention an impressive showing with Stardom in Japan in 2016. While they’ve competed for tag team titles in several top major indies, this marks their first major tag team titles on a national stage.

It’s interesting that Mercedes Martinez dropped her final North American title the same week that it was announced she was participating in the Mae Young Classic again this year. Some believe that the 18-year veteran could be signing with the WWE by the tournaments outcome, either as a performer or in a training role at the WWE Performance Center – Martinez helped trained a lot of the girls right before the first MYC in preparation for the event.
