Just under a month ago, New Jersey’s Pro Wrestling Magic had to vacate its PWM Championship. This past weekend, PWM held the Chad Adams Classic, a tournament to crown a new champion. By the end of Red Letter Day Night 2, it was Erica Leigh who emerged as the new PWM Champion (and the first woman to hold the title since its inception in 2015), defeating Darius Carter in the finals.

It marks a remarkable past year for Erica Leigh, who started her pro wrestling journey in 2018 under the moniker Emma Lou. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, as Emma Lou, she fought to break-in in the Mid-Atlantic U.S. indie scene. In 2019, she rebranded herself as Erica Leigh, but still, she was still finding it hard to break through and find herself in professional wrestling. But in 2020, during the pandemic era of the U.S. indie scene, Leigh found her footing just in time.
“The Gummi Bear Kid” emerged as a new star in CHIKARA (as Donna Rama) before it shut down, as well as breaking out as Erica Leigh with such promotions as Camp Leapfrog, Prime Time Pro Wrestling (PTPW), PWM, and other promotions, including events such as Billy Dixon‘s Paris is Bumping. In 2021, she broke out even further, making her debut for Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), Beyond Wrestling, Hardcore Hustle Organization (H2O), as well as appearing for such IWTV events as Butch vs. Gore‘s Cassandro Cup and the Family Reunion events over WrestleMania Week. With her first taste of championship gold, the sky is now the limit for this break-out star and we’ve only barely scratched the surface of her star power.
MAY 8! Let’s get this party started with my FIRST title defense!! @WrestlingMagic ✨💛🤎
