Jake Lee Wins 2021 Champion Carnival

Jake Lee

The 2021 Champion Carnival has come to an end as pre-tournament favorite Jake Lee defeated Kento Miyahara on the final show to finish top of the block and win the tournament for the first time ever with 12 points.  Lee’s only defeats in the tournament came to current champion Suwama and Yuma Aoyagi, which could set Aoyagi up as his first challenger should he win the title.

Before the tournament kicked off Jake Lee turned heel in a shocking double turn that also involved Shotaro Ashino.  Lee became the leader of Ashino’s faction Enfants Terribles and renamed them to Total Eclipse, this turn and leadership position seemed to be priming Jake Lee to finally fulfill the potential he has had for years now.  The turn did its job as Jake Lee has moved into the top echelon of AJPW with his first Champion Carnival win.

Lee will face champion Suwamaon May 16 at Ota Ward Gymnasium, Suwama has now reigned as Triple Crown champion for over 400 days and seems ready to drop the title and put over AJPW’s newest star Jake Lee.  After years of waiting around the company seems ready to finally go all in on Jake Lee to solidify him as a new star in All Japan Pro Wrestling that helps to break the monotony of Suwama and Miyahara on top.
