At AEW Double or Nothing 2021, Jungle Boy was one of the 21 competitors in the Casino Battle Royale. This was a huge opportunity for every participant; whoever emerged victorious would earn a future AEW World Championship match. This year’s Casino Battle Royale was full of surprises, including Lio Rush as this year’s “Joker” entrant. However, what may have been the biggest surprise of all was the victor. Last eliminating Christian Cage, it was the young Jungle Boy that won the match, earning a future AEW World Title opportunity in the process.
Jungle Boy was part of the “Spades,” the final full suit in the Casino Battle Royale. He performed well in the match, such as eliminating Penta El Zero Miedo. He would go on to become one of the final participants of the match alongside Christian Cage and Matt Hardy, the latter of whom had considerable assistance in the form of Private Party. When the match came down to the final three, Hardy attempted to create an alliance with Cage, seemingly appealing to him through their time as up-and-comers in the World Wrestling Federation. However, Cage quickly dumped Hardy out of the ring, leaving “The Instant Classic” and the young Jungle Boy as the final two competitors.

Christian Cage was clearly the more experienced wrestler, using his wit in order to keep the match in his favor. What he didn’t expect, however, was his opponent’s sheer agility. When it seemed like Jungle Boy was on the verge of being eliminated, he quickly made his way back into the ring before dropping Cage to the floor. The match result yielded a raucous reaction from the live crowd in Daily’s Place as Jungle Boy celebrated with his Jurassic Express allies Marko Stunt and Luchasaurus. Even Cage reentered the ring, embracing Jungle Boy in a show of respect.
It’s important to note that the AEW World Championship picture will be clearer following the conclusion of Double or Nothing. In the main event, Kenny Omega will defend the AEW World against Pac and Orange Cassidy in a three-way match. Needless to say, Jungle Boy will be watching said main event closely to develop a better understanding of his future. Meanwhile, whoever wins the AEW World Championship match will have a ready-made challenger waiting in the wings. Learn more on AEW Dynamite next week.
