The season finale of ChocoPro season 8 is fast approaching and it doesn’t look as though Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling is letting up on the proverbial gas pedal. It was recently announced that, following the season finale, Gatoh Move’s Founder, Emi Sakura, will be taking a temporary leave for America. For the first time since December of 2019, she will rock the world of All Elite Wrestling. Before the ChocoPro crew sends off their fearless leader, there are still two shows left to go. One of those shows, ChocoPro #143, looks to be nothing short of promising. Here’s what to know.
Masahiro Takanashi vs. Yuna Mizumori vs. Sayuri
On ChocoPro #143, Yuna Mizumori will make her return to Ichigaya Chocolate Square in three-way action. Her last ChocoPro match took place on episode #136 last month. Having won the One of a Kind Tag League alongside SAKI, TropiKawaild challenged Asia Dream Tag Team Champions Best Bros in a losing effort. Since then, “Yunamon” has been largely absent from competition in the familiar venue. Earlier this month, Mizumori worked a show for DDT Pro, where she fell to Yuna Manase. On ChocoPro #143, Mizumori squares off against Gatoh Move’s “Kunoichi,” Sayuri, and the man that “Only Lives Twice,” Masahiro Takanashi. Though it’s fair to expect “The Pineapple Girl” to get the win in her big return, one should count neither Sayuri nor Takanashi out of the equation.
Chie Koishikawa vs. Lulu Pencil
In a first-time singles encounter, on ChocoPro #143, “Too Much Energy” Chie Koishikawa will square off with Pencil Army‘s commanding officer, Lulu Pencil. Given the number of occasions Koishikawa and Lulu Pencil battled in tag team competition, it’s surprising to know that they never had a one-on-one encounter. Nonetheless, this is an intriguing one based on the personalities and approaches of the fighters involved. While Koishikawa’s boundless energy makes her difficult to keep down for long, her excitable demeanor tends to leave her open to her opponent’s offense. Meanwhile, though physically weaker than most of her contemporaries, Lulu Pencil boasts a cerebral approach that, while unusual on the surface, has shown that she’s more than what she seems. Will Koishikawa break the seemingly “unbreakable” Lulu Pencil or will the Pencil Army leader secure her first official singles victory?
Best Bros (Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki) vs. Minoru Fujita and Chon Shiryu (ChocoPro Main Event)
The main event of ChocoPro #143 sees the Asia Dream Tag Team Champions in a non-title contest. Best Bros, the reigning champions known as Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki, will battle the veteran duo of Minoru Fujita and Chon Shiryu. The dominance of Best Bros can’t be understated. From tag league winners to veteran wrestlers, Best Bros have tackled, and largely overcome, numerous challenges. As fighting champions, “Mei-chan” and the self-proclaimed ChocoPro “Ace” have been itching for new challengers. Their ChocoPro #143 opponents should prove to be more than formidable.
Shiryu’s expertise in martial arts makes him one of the most lethal opponents to step foot in Ichigaya Chocolate Square. Furthermore, by teaming with Sayuri to form Dragon Ninja, he’s been able to pass down his knowledge to the young Gatoh Move star. Meanwhile, Fujita stands as the reigning Super Asia Champion, having recently defended the title against Hagane Shinnou on episode #141. Though Fujita successfully defended the title against his younger opponent, he did so following an hour-long draw. One can make the assumption that the bearer of Gatoh Move’s blue belt will be looking to balance the ledger on ChocoPro #143. Expect this main event encounter to be nothing short of competitive.
ChocoPro #143 will air on August 1 at 10:00 AM JST (July 31 at 9:00 PM EST).
It will air live on the Gatoh Move YouTube channel for free before being available for on-demand viewing afterward. To support the company, you can sign up for their Patreon, which features multiple tiers, or their own on-demand streaming service linked below.
