MJF Set for Tonight’s AEW Dynamite

MJF appears on AEW Dynamite

After much speculation over the past few days, controversial professional wrestler and top All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star, Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), will be in the ring (live) during tonight’s AEW Dynamite broadcast. In a graphic bearing the simple caption “we hear from MJF”, AEW’s social media team has confirmed his appearance on tonight’s show.

A Messy Story: Has it Reached its Conclusion? Unlikely

For those who have been keeping up with the news, MJF has been involved in a contract stand-off with AEW owner and head booker, Tony Khan, in recent weeks. As most are probably now aware, MJF’s AEW contract expires in January of 2024 and the brash young star – famed for never breaking “kayfabe” (remaining in character during all appearances) – has been heavily teasing the possibility of jumping ship to the WWE, should his “good friend” Tony Khan not shell out the money he believes he deserves.

Last weekend, a mere day before AEW’s Double or Nothing pay per view, MJF bailed on a scheduled fan event, leading to AEW having to reimburse tickets for all who paid to see MJF. Additionally, he turned up late for Double or Nothing and left the event immediately after his defeat to former bodyguard-turned-top star, Wardlow. Tony Khan refused to discuss MJF in the post-show media scrum. It is clear, therefore, that there is some bad blood between MJF – who wishes to be paid something resembling what the top stars (CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega) are getting paid – and Tony Khan, who is apparently willing to do so should MJF extend his contract beyond 2024. Have these issues now been ironed out? We’ll find out tonight.
