AEW World Trios Championship Announced
There have been rumors of trios titles coming to AEW, as Excalibur mentioned in his announcement, almost since the inception of the company. Several of the wrestler/executive Vice Presidents have the company, The Young Bucks, Adam Page, and Kenny Omega, have held six-man titles in both Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. With these two companies being major influences and working partners of AEW, it was only a matter of time before they turned up.
Also with factions being a large part of AEW’s main roster storytelling, trios titles make sense apart from the traditional tag team division. It allows for multiple members of one faction to swap in and out as needed due to injuries, ongoing individual storylines, or any other issues that could crop up, giving the promotion increased flexibility to deliver an advertised contest. As details emerge over who will be participating in this tournament, we will keep you up to date on this brand new division in AEW!
