The Do or Die Rumble Returns
GCW 56 Nights marks the return of the Do or Die Rumble. The first match of this name took place on New Year’s Day 2022 at the company’s Die 4 This event. The goal of this match was the crown a new number one contender for the GCW World Championship; at this time, the gold was held by current All Elite Wrestling star Jon Moxley. From EFFY to Tony Deppen to PCO, this match featured a who’s who of independent wrestling talent. Ultimately, the match was won by New York-born wrestling veteran Homicide. For the first time in a year, the Do or Die Rumble match will take place, the winner receiving a future GCW World Championship match.
To be more specific, however, this title match will take place any time the winner chooses. What this means is that Nick Gage, the current reigning GCW World Champion, may either have ample time to prepare for the winner or have no choice but to put his belt on the line, even if it’s following another grueling title defense. On paper, the Do or Die Rumble could change the complexion of GCW. Just as importantly, it serves as a promising opportunity for the individual that survives the endurance. Who will walk away from The Showboat with the proverbial golden ticket in their possession? Find out the answer at GCW 56 Nights 2023.
A Four-Way Encounter to Remember
If there’s any one match that perfectly illustrates the diversity of talent in action this Sunday, it would have to be this. In four-way action, Dark Sheik, Maki Itoh, Billie Starkz, and Sawyer Wreck will meet. Fans of Game Changer Wrestling and its sibling companies will be familiar with the competitors involved, as they’ve been on shows to various levels. Sheik may be the most familiar given her veteran status on not just the West Coast but across the country. This isn’t to say that Itoh, Starkz, or Wreck should be written off, however. Starkz is considered a hot prospect on the indies, Wreck boasts deathmatch expertise, and Itoh brings international experience that her opponents at GCW 56 Nights 2023 aren’t able to as easily boast.
Simply put, this is a match where any competitor has the chance to win. Each one has an upside that, on paper, makes them capable of walking away from The Showboat victorious. Furthermore, each wrestler has their fans, meaning that it’s unlikely for any one of them to be unfavored by the crowd in New Jersey. More than anything else, this bout is meant to excite, keeping the attention of fans in attendance and those watching from home. In fact, it wouldn’t be farfetched to see the competitors involved go all the way and have the match of the night, if not the weekend. Viewers will have to see who has their arm raised when Game Changer Wrestling presents 56 Nights this New Year’s Day.
GCW 56 Nights 2023 will take place in Atlantic City, New Jersey on January 1, 2023.
