Returning to the Valley Dale Ballroom venue in Columbus, Ohio, Game Changer Wrestling presents GCW I Can’t Save You. The promotion in question hasn’t stepped foot in said venue since this past October, when they held their Moment of Clarity event; this showcased, among other things, a well-received main event between “Speedball” Mike Bailey and former Ring of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham. I Can’t Save You looks to be a promising show in its own right, with the full card and highlights for a few key matches being seen below. Whether you’re attending at the ballroom or watching at home, here’s everything you need to know.

Trey Miguel Returns to GCW
For the first time in over a year, Trey Miguel steps back into a Game Changer Wrestling ring. He hasn’t been seen in GCW since November of 2021, when he competed in a joint show that also featured Horror Slam Wrestling. Also known as “The Fresh Prince of Mid-Air,” Miguel is known for his high-flying offense, which served him well across multiple promotions. This was especially prevalent in IMPACT Wrestling, where he captured the X-Division Championship twice over. This doesn’t even begin to cover his success in various independent promotions including Warrior Wrestling and REVOLVER.
This Sunday, at GCW I Can’t Save You, Miguel steps up to the resident troublemaker of the company, Blake Christian. This isn’t the first time that they’ll share a ring, as they’ve competed together in events dating back to 2019. However, this is the first time that they’ll be squaring off in singles competition. Not unlike Miguel, Christian is a fast-paced competitor, though his recent mean streak came with it a more aggressive in-ring style as well. If Miguel intends on making his return a successful one, it should go without saying that he must be at the top of his game.

Alex Shelley in Singles Action
Another name in action this Sunday is one half of Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley. Recently, in Game Changer Wrestling, Shelley has largely been seen alongside his long-time tag team partner, Chris Sabin. Together they’ve captured the GCW World Tag Team Championship, not to mention tag team gold across a slew of promotions. However, it’s been quite a few months since he’s been in singles action in GCW, his last one-on-one bout in the promotion dating back to the Jersey J-Cup this past February. Singles wise, Shelley is no slouch, as he’s been Black Label Pro Midwest Champion, Prestige Wrestling Champion, IMPACT X-Division Champion, and more.
At GCW I Can’t Save You, Shelley will face Alec Price. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that they’ve squared off against one another. This past December, at Blitzkrieg! Pro’s Always the Hard Way event, Price faced Shelley in the opening match, losing to the former GCW tag team titleholder. Also known as “The Northeast Beast,” Price is brimming with potential, showing continuous growth since his professional debut in 2017. In terms of experience, Shelley has the edge, as he’s been competing in the squared since since the early 2000s. However, this match’s veteran will have to be as sharp as ever if he plans on contending with the unique offense Price brings to the table.

Maki Itoh Faces Steph De Lander
For the first time in the United States, at GCW I Can’t Save You, “The Fallen Idol” Maki Itoh faces the self-proclaimed “Baddest Bitch on the Indies,” Steph De Lander. For the uninitated, they’ve faced off one-on-one only once before, specifically at a APAC Wrestling show in Malaysia. Following her release from WWE in April of 2022, De Lander quickly reintegrated herself on the independent scene, making ROH and All Elite Wrestling appearances along the way. However, it wasn’t until she stepped into GCW when she saw her biggest boost of momentum, quickly aligning herself with arguably the biggest villain in the company, Matt Cardona.
This union proved to be most interesting, especially with the duo of Maki Itoh and Nick Gage in their sights. Despite their obvious differences from a cosmetic standpoint, Itoh and Gage’s chemistry as a duo was undeniable; together, they became the “cutest and toughest duo” in wrestling, Maki Death Kill. While Cardona and Gage’s animosity has a long history, Itoh and De Lander have only recently found themselves in each other’s crosshairs. This newfound rivalry has led to GCW I Can’t Save You, where they’ll go one-on-one on American soil. Be sure to keep an eye on this match come Sunday evening.
