Sheamus Returns To WWE Raw Tonight

A WWE Raw graphic featuring Sheamus.

Former WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus returns to WWE Raw tonight in Montreal, Canada.

It’s been eight months since Sheamus was last on WWE TV. A lot has changed since then making it an interesting time for “The Celtic Warrior” to return. His return was hyped on last week’s WWE Raw, making him technically the only return on the Raw After WrestleMania.

With that in mind, we can expect big plans for Sheamus. Here, we take a look at what to expect from Sheamus’s return.

Sheamus Returns To WWE Raw

All Change Since Sheamus Left

When we last saw Sheamus he was a WWE SmackDown superstar, backed up by Butch and Ridge Holland in “The Brawling Brutes”. Sheamus lost his last match to Edge on WWE SmackDown in Toronto on August 18, 2023.

Butch has since reverted to being Pete Dunne and is now in a tag team with Tyler Bate. The team now known as “The New Catch Republic” put on a great show at WrestleMania 40 in the ladder match. They seem an integral part of the development of SmackDown’s tag division.

Ridge Holland moved to NXT before announcing his retirement. His recent attack on Joe Gacy at NXT Stand & Deliver suggests he will still play a role in NXT. Edge is now part of AEW under his name Adam Copeland.

Fresh Start For Sheamus

This means Sheamus will return with a fresh start. Initially, we could expect Sheamus to be the focus of brand negotiations ahead of the WWE Draft which begins at the end of the month.

Sheamus is a 3x World Heavyweight Champion, 2x WWE Champion, 4x WWE Raw Tag Team Champion, 3x United States Champion, and 1x WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion. This makes him a decorated star whose credentials would enhance any brand.

We can expect Adam Pearce, Nick Aldis, and Ava Raine to hotly negotiate for Sheamus to join their WWE Raw, WWE SmackDown, or NXT brand.

WWE Intercontinental Championship

The one title that has eluded Sheamus during his 15 years in WWE is the Intercontinental Championship. Sheamus fought to win this from Gunther but always came up short.

Sami Zayn holding the gold gives Sheamus a fresh crack at the elusive championship. The upper mid-card roster on WWE Raw has been putting on some banger matches in recent months. Sheamus – a fan of a banger himself – would sit perfectly alongside Zayn, Chad Gable, Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura and Ricochet.

Ilya Dragunov seems set to potentially join the mix during the WWE Draft. All this makes, WWE Raw the perfect place for Sheamus to make a fresh start.

Top Championships

Sheamus could also intersect himself into the life of his former “Banger Bros” teammate (*sorry, I forgot we all promised to never refer to Drew McIntyre and Sheamus as the Banger Bros again). Either way, McIntyre is on fire at the moment. Fiercely engaged in a feud with CM Punk and on course for a World Heavyweight Championship match.

Sheamus adding himself into this feud is the perfect way for him to remind people he’s still a top guy.

With multiple European PLEs on the horizon, Sheamus would be a perfect competitor for Damian Priest. A feud with “The Judgement Day” and Sheamus would give us Sheamus vs. Fin Balor – banger! Sheamus vs. JD McDonagh – banger! Sheamus vs. Dominik Mysterio – banger! All before the aforementioned Sheamus vs. Priest ultimate banger for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Sure, immediate talk surrounding new WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes surrounds LA Knight and AJ Styles. But before Rhodes meets “The Bloodline” again, a banger with Sheamus would be a very good idea.
