5 Reasons to Watch WWE Survivor Series 2024

WWE Survivor Series is one of the more maligned of the Big Five PLE’s. Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Money in the Bank have been the darlings of WWE, but there is another that doesn’t receive the glitz and glamour.

Survivor Series has not received much attention for decades. It was not a PLE that many cared about, with Vince even toying around with the idea of rebranding the event some years ago.

That sentiment has changed in recent years under new management. Survivor Series is a PLE to watch again, with WWE giving us every reason to tune in, and the 2024 version is no different. There are some great reasons to turn your channel to Survivor Series and here are five of them.

The Potential Number Of Surprises

WWE always tries to pull out all the stops for its bigger shows. In the past few years, we have seen surprise returns at almost every major PLE. It is a great way to drum up excitement for upcoming shows and push the “anything can happen” feeling amongst the audience.

This year’s Survivor Series has the potential to be a massive show for returns.

Rumors of CM Punk and The Rock being at the show have been running around. Also, Charlotte has been seen getting ready for in-ring action. Just one of these would be a huge deal, but all three? That would be a night of WWE worth watching.

Two War Games Matches

For the past few years, the biggest selling point for Survivor Series has been the War Games match. The sight of a double cage always gets the hearts pumping. It is a gimmick match that everyone loves, and even when bad, it is still entertaining.

WWE Survivor Series boasts two War Games matches with stacked participants. Both the men’s and women’s contests boast the best and the brightest on the roster. There will be great moments of drama and, no doubt, some great spots for the crowd to feast on.

They are the highlights of the night and one of the main reasons that everyone should be watching.

Damian Priest & Gunther Will Tear The House Down

The build towards Priest and Gunther has been much better than their road to SummerSlam. Their promos have evolved into some of the best of the year and have helped to heighten the anticipation for the match.

Priest has grown into his baby-face role and has even gotten the better of Gunther on a few occasions.

Their Summerslam match was fantastic, and there is no doubt they will replicate some of that magic. The build has helped to make the match mean that much more going into Survivor Series, and it looks like Priest might be able to win back his championship.

There are so many factors that contribute to the World Championship match at the Survivor Series. It is a match flying slightly under the radar but should be a must-watch.

Rhodes, Orton, and Owens Will Make For A Memorable Show

The drama between Owens, Cody Rhodes, and Kevin Owens has been great television. Owens’s reversion to his vicious heel has reinvigorated his character and given him an edge that he hasn’t had in years.

He has used that to get revenge on the two men whom he blames for turning their backs on him. It has been a personal and violent rivalry dominating SmackDown.

There hasn’t been much development for this angle at Survivor Series—nothing so far. No doubt there will be something involving these men at Survivor Series, and when it does happen, it will be some of the best moments of the night. It will be something that every fan will want to see.

The Vancouver Crowd Will Be Wild

Canadian crowds have always had a reputation for being raucous. Jerry “The King” Lawler famously described Canadian shows as being in a bizarro world. The crowds jeer faces while lauding heels.

Canadian shows have been shown to have tremendous energy, and that is a factor that will feed into the performers.

The last PLE to make its way to Vancouver was way back in 1998. It has been 16 years since WWE brought the big show to Van City, and the fans are starved for a show. Over 15,000 tickets were sold in a mere 24 hours, so we know the excitement is there.

There should be no doubt that come Survivor Series, the Vancouver crowd is going to be bananas. It will be fun to watch.
