The never-changing main event of NXT never seemed to stop as what was once a number one contender’s match became an NXT Championship match and then a competitor was taken out. That competitor, of course, was Kyle O’Reilly. He was attacked by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland before the match, resulting in newcomer Von Wagner getting his shot to become champion on his very first night. Seeing that Wagner was making his first NXT appearance, it wasn’t too bad of a showing for him. But this match was all about Tommaso Ciampa and Dunne throughout. Multiple staredowns and exchanges made for a major part of the match and what carried it to be a reasonably good main event. Ciampa was destined to get “Goldie” back and he wasn’t going to stop until he did.
In the end, that’s exactly what happened. Despite a great effort by Dunne, Knight, and even Wagner, it was time for Ciampa to recapture “Goldie.” A Fairytale Ending to Knight would put the match away for good, signaling that the future of NXT is not fully going into play until Ciampa says so. The match itself was entertaining and went straight to the point. Rather than holding anything back, they went 100 miles per hour from the start and it made for an enjoyable watch. This is Ciampa’s NXT once again, but it seems Bron Breakker could end that sooner than anyone could have ever imagined.
