Preview: GCW Middle of the Night (2/18/23) – Full Card, Start Time, How to Watch

GCW Middle of the Night

The Ukrainian Cultural Center is a landmark venue for Game Changer Wrestling, so it should come as little surprise that the company in question will return to said venue this Saturday night. GCW Middle of the Night is set to feature everything from lucha libre action to title matches, not to mention the bevy of styles that the promotion has become known for. Simply put, anyone in the Los Angeles area looking for great wrestling this weekend needn’t look further. If you’re unable to attend live, however, all the action will be aired live; further details can be found below. Here’s what to know about the action to unfold.

The Man of the Hour Returns

Returning to Game Changer Wrestling this Saturday is none other than Lio Rush. The fast-paced “Man of the Hour” hasn’t appeared for GCW since October of 2022, where he fell to Nick Gage in an unsuccessful GCW World Championship match. This isn’t to say that Rush has been short on work, however; since this loss, he’s been traveling the world, most prominently for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he won the Super Junior Tag League alongside fellow CHAOS member YOH. The two went onto Wrestle Kingdom 17 earlier this year, challenging IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions TJP and Francesco Akira in a losing effort. At GCW Middle of the Night, Rush steps into the ring against Komander, another high-flying star that’s quickly become a favorite of the GCW faithful. Komander’s agility, nimbleness, and aerial expertise helped him gain a reputation as one of the hottest luchadors in the game today. Furthermore, given how formidable Reynosa native has been between the ropes, Rush will have to work that much harder to make his return a win.

The Bollywood Boyz Debut

Another moment to keep an eye on heading into this Saturday is the GCW debut of The Bollywood Boyz. The sibling duo of Gurv and Harv Sihra may be better known to wrestling fans as former WWE Superstars Samir and Sunil Singh. During this time in WWE, they competed in the cruiserweight division but found particular prominence as the underlings of Jinder Mahal during the latter’s WWE Championship reign. Following their release in June of 2021, the Sihras took to the independent scene, capturing tag team gold in such organizations as CanAm Wrestling, All-Star Wrestling, and DEFY Wrestling. At GCW Middle of the Night, The Bollywood Boyz intend to make a huge splash by challenging the company’s reigning tag team titleholders, Los Macizos. The duo of Ciclope and Miedo Extremo showed that they’re willing to go to any lengths to hold onto the gold, though one shouldn’t count out the possibility of Samir and Sunil Singh adding the GCW Tag Team Championship to their collection. Keep an eye on this bout, as it may steal the show.

Mike Bailey Challenges for the World Title

In the main event of GCW Middle of the Night, “Speedball” Mike Bailey sets his sights on the top prize. He’ll be challenging Nick Gage for the GCW World Championship, which the deathmatch specialist has kept an iron grasp on since capturing it for the third time this past October. This third reign features successful defenses against names ranging from grizzled veteran George South to up-and-comers along the lines of Cole Radrick. It’s safe to say that Gage is a seasoned world champion, so anyone putting their bets on him to retain would be right to do so. However, Bailey’s recent success, such as being crowned the winner of this year’s Battle of Los Angeles tournament, would seem to indicate that world title success isn’t far off. Will the Ukrainian Cultural Center be the stage for arguably Bailey’s biggest achievement to date? Can Gage defend the title for the fifth time in his most recent GCW world title reign? Uncover the answers to these questions when the action unfolds this Saturday night.
