#AndNEW: Katsuyori Shibata Wins ROH Pure Championship

Katsuyori Shibata: Shibata vs Yuta Match Graphic

A new Pure Champion was crowned at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event. Katsuyori Shibata defeated the Blackpool Combat Club member, Wheeler Yuta to become the new champion.

Katsuyori Shibata Captures ROH Pure Championship at Supercard of Honor

Wheeler Yuta came into this match with a chip on his shoulder. Since the launch of the new Ring of Honor television Yuta has been trying to prove that he is not the junior member of the Blackpool Combat Club. Yuta defeated Timothy Thatcher and Clark Connors before turning his attention to Shibata. After Yuta defeated Connors who is part of the dojo system in New Japan Pro Wrestling, he called out the head of the dojo, Shibata.

Yuta came into this match with a lot of confidence and was accompanied by none other than Jon Moxley. The match started with the code of honor being adhered to. Shibata secured the win after hitting the penalty kick on Yuta. After the match, Yuta refused the Code of Honor and gestured toward the title. Things do not seem to be over in the mind of Yuta.

Hopefully, this means seeing more of Shibata on Ring of Honor television. With the relaunch still in its early stages, having someone with the pedigree of Shibata can only help the re-launch of ROH.

Stay tuned for more Supercard of Honor results as they become available.
