It’s official – Monday Night Raw has a new play-by-play commentator. After multiple reports, World Wrestling Entertainment confirmed that Jimmy Smith, former commentator for Premier Boxing Champions, Bellator and the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will be joining the red brand. This comes fresh off the heels of Adnan Virk‘s departure from the company. Smith will call Raw, every Monday night, alongside Byron Saxton and Corey Graves.
This isn’t the first time Jimmy Smith has been involved in the company. In the past, he served as an analyst for NXT TakeOver pre-show events, offering his take on matches scheduled. Simply put, the former mixed martial artist has experience with the brand. Early reports of Smith potentially joining the company detailed that it would be either him or Tom Phillips joining Saxton and Graves on Monday nights. Smith is expected to begin his announcing duties this Monday night on the May 31 episode of Raw.

As stated earlier, Smith served as commentator for organizations including Bellator and UFC. Smith is also a former mixed martial artist in his own right. He began fighting pro in the early 2000s. Of the six fights he had, Smith won five; four were the result of submission and one was by decision. Smith fought his last match in 2006 before becoming a host for Fight Quest on Discovery Channel. He would also host the TV shows Unlocking the Cage and American Ninja Warrior.
