#AndNEW: LA Knight Wins Million Dollar Championship

LA Knight Million Dollar Championship

One of the more interesting matches on NXT Takeover: In Your House saw the return of the Million Dollar Championship as Cameron Grimes and LA Knight did battle in a ladder match.  It was LA Knight who stood tall as he becomes the first person since Ted DiBiase Jr. in 2010 to hold the championship.

This kicks off a potentially interesting new run for the Million Dollar title which debuted all the way back in 1989 and became synonymous with the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase.  The bling-filled championship was a perfect prop for the rich man and became a great addition to his already hated character.  The title would eventually be retired in 1992 until it was brought back in 1995 when DiBiase himself awarded the championship to The Ringmaster, who many know today as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin!  Ringmaster abandoned the title in 1996 and it wasn’t seen again until DiBiase Jr. was also awarded it by DiBiase.

Continuing with tradition, it was Ted DiBiase himself who announced the return of the championship and put it on the line between Knight and Grimes, two men who have recently been vying for his attention.  Knight, who recently came into money himself, makes for the perfect person to carry on the lineage of the Million Dollar Championship.
